Late 60's with COVID...I probably would have advised Paxlovid, although I have no knowledge of the details of your history. First of all there is ONLY anecdotal stories about rebound symptoms being worse, no actual data. And think about it, people take Paxlovid very early in the disease course, and their symptoms rapidly disappear. IF they get rebound (most do not), and the symptoms are worse they say "the Paxlovid rebound was worse than the initial disease." But the natural course of COVID can be to worsen over 10 days, and for some people land them in hospital. The people having COVID rebound have no idea what their course would have been had they not taken Paxlovid. Some of the drugs which are contraindicated with Paxlovid can be safely stopped for 5 days but many physicians are reluctant to do this. Others can be safely continued with dose modification, but I think this is rarely being done.
